(May our love last forever.)
Before Aurora, there was Hawaii — the place where we got engaged and made our vows official. We chose Magic Island, with Diamond Head in the background, as the setting. And just as we started to share our vows, two rainbows appeared over the mountains — perfectly timed, and something we didn’t pay extra for.
Of course, it wouldn’t be us without some comedy mixed in. While we had the stunning backdrop of Diamond Head, behind the photographer another party blasted Shaggy’s Boombastic into the distance — the perfect unplanned soundtrack.
The journey to that moment wasn’t straightforward. The plan was always to marry in Aurora, but we wanted to make it official sooner. Our Adele concert got rescheduled, and with the dates lining up, we decided: why not hop over to Hawaii and tie the knot? The catch: our anniversary fell on a Sunday, and government offices were closed. After countless calls, the very last person on the list agreed to meet us early Sunday morning to issue the license — saving our date.
When we signed, we gave each other a quick high five. She laughed and told us it was fitting: she was the very first person to sign the first marriage license when Hawaii legalized marriage equality. There’s even a photo of the first couple high-fiving with her in the background. Full circle.

As part of our wedding in Hawaii, we took part in a traditional Sand Ceremony, blending grains of sand together as a symbol of unity. Just as the individual grains can never be separated again, the combined sand represents the joining of our lives, families, and love into something inseparable and everlasting.
